ICT Society
ICT has opened up a world of possibility and has played a vital role in connecting people- something which has become all the more poignant as we unite together to face this collective pandemic. Despite trying times, the year has been more than fruitful:
In the year 2012, the ICT society was fleshed into being by innovative young minds in 55 who felt that the field had a remarkable avenue for potential. The society held its first competition, the GISTC (Grammar Inter-School Technology Competition), in January 2013 and we have come a long way since then. In the past 5 years alone the ICT society has offered students multiple opportunities to hone their creativity as well as polish and develop their skills. Students have been given the opportunity to part take in internships, like Plan 9 and Alif Laila, where they helped in teaching the underprivileged. Robotics workshops were also held to open new doors for those willing to learn. Our school took part in many events and in true 55 tradition we placed first in many, like Fast NU in the senior category and the Intel Science and Engineering Fair. Other competitions we participated in included Grade Scope, IBIC Kangaroo, Parakrations and JT Innoventions. As a society we have collaborated successfully with other societies, like the Sci-math society, in organizing the immensely successful 55 Scimatics in which the ICT society proudly hosted Tech Con. This event challenged participants to match their skill against other like-minded tech savvy individuals. In 2017 our society was also an imperative part of the 55 MUN! In 2018 and 2021 we held our very own 55 Technovations! This event was conceived with the ICT society’s idea of bringing ICT, a rather side-lined field in inter school competitions, to the center stage. Every year our school takes part in “Tech Week”, a week allocated for ICT related activities which range from web design to robotics. This society aims to provide a platform for individuals to explore what IT has to offer and help them acquire necessary skill to help them in life!
